With UAE beating Samoa and set to take on Japan on Thursday, Oman and Nepal sealed their qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup, regardless of the outcome of their final Super Six match.

UAE and Qatar Battle for Super Six Survival

Out of the first six Super Six matches, five went down to the final over, with Nepal winning two thrilling contests to secure their World Cup berth.

Remaining unbeaten in the group stage, Nepal carried two points into the Super Six and then clinched last-ball victories over UAE and Qatar to seal their qualification.

In the match against UAE, Dipendra Singh Airee was struck for a six by Dhruv Parashar, reducing the target to just three runs from the last three balls. However, a crucial catch by Sundeep Jora followed by two consecutive run-outs turned the tide, sealing a dramatic last-ball win for Nepal.

Samoa Eliminated Despite Strong Start

The next day, Rohit Paudel’s side produced another remarkable victory against Qatar, who were comfortably placed at 97 for 1 while chasing 148.

Sandeep Lamichhane (5/18) triggered a dramatic collapse, and with 10 runs needed and only two wickets remaining, Qatar fell short, handing Nepal yet another thrilling win.

Oman also entered the Super Six stage with two carry-over points and eased past Qatar by successfully defending a total of 172.

In their clash against UAE, Nadeem Khan’s late fireworks made the difference, guiding Oman to a thrilling win with two balls remaining.

Meanwhile, the UAE sit in third place after a convincing win over Samoa and will face a determined Japan in a crucial match, looking to bounce back from their narrow loss to Qatar.

Chasing 32 runs off the last three overs with three wickets in hand, Qatar sealed a thrilling win with two balls to spare, powered by a late surge from Muhammad Ikramullah (16* off 9) and Daniel Archer (12* off 8).

However, the Samoans have been unable to replicate their strong group-stage form, where they had defeated regional rivals Papua New Guinea, and are now mathematically out of contention for a top-three finish.

Qatar remain mathematically in contention but will need favorable results elsewhere, a win against Samoa on Thursday, and a strong net run rate to keep their qualification hopes alive.
