Mohammad Amir Doubles Down on India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Semi-Final Prediction
Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has once again stood by his bold prediction that India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will not reach the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Amir’s Strong Opinion on India’s Chances
Earlier this week, Amir made headlines after claiming that India might not even make it out of Group 1 in the Super 8 stage. According to him, both the West Indies and South Africa are playing better and more balanced cricket in the tournament.
His remarks quickly went viral, triggering strong reactions from Indian fans on social media. Many criticized the former left-arm pacer for repeatedly making negative comments about the Indian team.
Comments on Abhishek Sharma
Since the tournament began, Amir has frequently shared sharp opinions about Indian players. Earlier, he labeled Abhishek Sharma as “just a slogger,” which also sparked debate online.
Statement on ‘Haarna Mana Hai’
During his appearance on the show Haarna Mana Hai, Amir defended his stance. He clarified that his comments are purely based on his assessment of performances so far.
He stated that he does not consider India a weak side. However, in his view, South Africa and West Indies look like more complete teams in terms of batting, bowling, and overall balance.
Amir also emphasized that whether fans agree or disagree with him does not matter to him. He added that if India proves him wrong and reaches the final, it would be “well and good,” but it would not change his opinion right now.
India’s Current Form in the Tournament
India, however, have remained unbeaten in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2026. They secured wins against USA, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands.
In the Super 8 stage, India are placed in Group 1 alongside South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe. The upcoming matches will play a crucial role in determining their semi-final chances.
Notably, India have not lost a match in the last three ICC events, which strengthens their position as strong contenders for the title. With the tournament being played on home soil, the team will be eager to defend their crown and silence critics.
What Lies Ahead?
The Super 8 fixtures will now decide whether Amir’s prediction holds true or if India once again rise to the occasion. All eyes will be on their performances in the coming matches as the race to the semi-finals intensifies.
