Pakistan Squad Trains at the Same Ground as India: Asia Cup2025, Here's What Happened

Pakistan Squad Trains at the Same Ground as India

A day before their clash with UAE, the Pakistan team reached the Dubai practice ground, only to find the Indian players already in the middle of their training session.

After the no-handshake controversy in the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash last Sunday, both teams crossed paths again on Tuesday. The Pakistan squad, still silent about their stance on continuing in the tournament, reached the ICC Academy in Dubai for training ahead of their match against UAE on Wednesday. Coincidentally, the Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, was also practicing at the same venue.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet confirmed its plans for the rest of the tournament. They have filed a complaint with the ICC regarding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, who was involved in the no-handshake incident during the India game.

Pakistan further skipped the mandatory pre-match press conference, showing a firm stand over Pycroft’s removal. Reports suggest that a compromise has been worked out between the PCB and ICC, but despite no final agreement, the board still sent its players for practice.

Pakistan and India Cross Paths Again in Dubai

When the Pakistan players reached the ICC Academy in Dubai, their practice session clashed with India’s. Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and the rest of the Indian squad were still training, with over an hour left in their schedule.

Despite sharing the same ground, Pakistan players maintained their distance and did not approach the Indian camp. Head coach Mike Hesson supervised their nets session, focusing on preparing the team for the crucial must-win clash against UAE.

If Pakistan manage to defeat UAE in Dubai, they will set up another high-voltage clash with India in the Super 4s on Sunday.

India’s seven-wicket win last Sunday marked the first time the arch-rivals met on the cricket field since the Operation Sindoor episode.
