ICC Names All-Women Officiating Panel for Upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup in India & Sri Lanka
The ICC has confirmed that the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup in India will feature an all-women team of umpires and match referees.
The ICC has appointed 18 women officials - 14 umpires and 4 referees - for the 31-match Women’s ODI World Cup starting September 30 in India. This will be the first time the tournament is officiated entirely by women, continuing the precedent set at the last two Women’s T20 World Cups and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The panel includes experienced officials like Claire Polosak, Jacqueline Williams, and Sue Redfern, each making their third World Cup appearance. Lauren Agenbag and Kim Cotton, who officiated in the 2022 final, also return, along with Eloise Sheridan. The referees’ panel features India’s GS Lakshmi, joined by Trudy Anderson, Shandre Fritz, and Michell Pereira.
A milestone moment as the ICC reinforces its commitment to gender equality in cricket.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah called the decision a ‘defining moment’ for women’s cricket. He said it reflects the ICC’s strong commitment to gender equality in the sport and hoped it would inspire many more trailblazing stories in the future.
"He added that this move is not just symbolic but about creating visibility, opportunities, and role models for future generations. By showcasing excellence in officiating on the world stage, the ICC aims to inspire young talent and prove that leadership in cricket is not defined by gender."
