At the IPL 2026 auction, Chennai Super Kings made history by signing two uncapped players at the same record price. CSK bought Prashant Veer for ₹14.20 crore and matched the same amount to sign Kartik Sharma, making both the costliest uncapped players in IPL history.

Breaking the earlier record, the previous highest price for an uncapped Indian player was ₹10 crore, paid by Lucknow Super Giants for Avesh Khan in the IPL 2022 auction. The ₹14.20 crore deals of Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma crossed that mark by more than 40%.

Prashant Veer attracted a fierce bidding battle involving Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. His price quickly crossed ₹6 crore, then went beyond ₹10 crore, before CSK finally signed him for ₹14.20 crore.

Kartik Sharma sparked a thrilling four-team bidding war involving Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and Chennai Super Kings. The price crossed ₹10 crore, with CSK and KKR battling till the end before CSK finally secured him for ₹14.20 crore.

Prashant Veer:

Prashant Veer is a 20-year-old left-arm spin all-rounder from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, often compared to Ravindra Jadeja for his all-round skills. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 112 runs at an impressive strike rate of 169.69 and picked up nine wickets while maintaining an economy of 6.76.

He continued his strong form in the UP T20 League, playing for Noida Super Kings, where he scored 320 runs and took eight wickets in 10 matches. Veer had also attended trials with Chennai Super Kings, who were searching for a long-term replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. His consistent performances put him on the radar of several IPL teams.

Kartik Sharma is a 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Rajasthan known for his explosive batting. He has scored 334 runs in 12 T20 matches at a strike rate of 164, including 28 sixes. Along with his batting, Kartik is a dependable wicketkeeper and is currently backed by JSW, a group that manages elite athletes such as Neeraj Chopra.
